Like many of you, one of my childhood holiday memories involves my mother baking cookies.  Lots of cookies, even more than my brother and I could possibly sneak – cookies until every horizontal surface of the kitchen had them spread to cool and the old, single-paned windows were condensed with moisture from the baking.  And I cannot express in words the wonderful smell.  As far as it goes, it is a perfect holiday memory, straight out of a heart-tugging seasonal movie.
