Episode: Shop Til Ya Drop

Original Air Date: April 6, 2005

Myths: No Myths, Go shopping with MythBusters and check out where they get their supplies

This show is a little different than most episodes - there are no myths to bust here!  However, the guys do show us where they get the cool things that they use in the show, and even tell us how much they cost sometimes! Oh, the places they go!

Machinery and Equipment Co. in Brisbane, CA. - This is where they got the tank for Killer Quicksand, and also the funnel that went on the end of the pump for the SCUBA Diver/Forest Fire episode.

Urban Ore in Berkley, CA http://urbanore.citysearch.com/ - There are all sorts of weird and wild things here, including the appliances Jamie dropped into Adam's bath in Bathtub Electrocution, and a stimulator, which Adam says that he is going to use on Jamie!

House of Fans - San Francisco area. - This, obviously, is where they got the first two fans for the Killer Fan story.

A+G Vacuum -San Francisco area - This is the famous store where Adam decided to see if his lips really would be pulled toward the vacuum cleaner motor.  This is also where they got all the vacuum motors for the hovercraft, and where Tory later went for his jet engine vacuum.

Best Music in the San Francisco area - The trombones that they blew up in the Mad Trombonist came from here.

Alameda Surplus Center, also known as Alameda Discount Center in San Francisco -

http://www.euroamericansurplus.com/pages/1/index.htm This is it, the famous beret store! Also a good place to go to get convict-type clothing (Alcatraz Escape), and even a parachute for nervous plane-goers!

Mojave Airport - Mojave Desert, CA - This is the place where the boys tested the myth of Explosive Decompression. The Hawaiian Airlines DC-9 that they used only cost them $3,500 - what a bargain!

Interface Aviation in Hollister, CA - If you want to find an airplane toilet, this is the place to go. Unfortunately, it will set you back $9,000 to buy one, so maybe you should do what Jamie and Adam did, and just borrow one!

Golden Gate Meats - If you need four stunt hogs to shoot at (Blown Away), this is the place. They cost $1,125 all together, and they collectively weighed 670 pounds.

At an unnamed shop in Modesto, CA - They finally found four pigs stomachs, with the tubes attached, to do the Pop Rocks and Cola myth. The stomachs cost $80 all together.

Bischoff's in the San Francisco area was the place the guys went to to find the two dead pigs for the Stinky Car myth.  They cost $709.50.

Circosta Iron and Metal Co. is in the San Francisco area as well. This is the place where they take the cars from myths like JATO, Jet Taxi, and Pole Vault after they are finished with them.

Drive Shafts by Frank Wallace is also in the San Francisco area.  The guys went there to get the drive shafts that they would need to pole vault that Fury.

San Antonio Hobby Shop in Mountain View, CA http://www.sahobby.com/index.html - This is where Jamie goes to get the remote control parts he needs for all of the cars that he has controlled remotely - from the JATO car to the pole vaulting one.

East Bay Vivarium in San Francisco http://www.eastbayvivarium.com - This is Jamie's favorite pet store, and when you see him hugging Spot, the store's mascot, you'll know why! He also gets to hold a 200 pound Burmese python here, and as the snake turns and looks at him, he says, "Well, I don't exactly feel safe, in fact I feel like ducking right now!"

Rob Lee, the narrator, counters with a great line. "Myths may come and go, but segues like that live forever!"

The next place they show is Liberty Duck Farm in Sonoma County, CA.  This was the first home of Bob and Roy, the two ducks who helped to prove that a duck's quack does echo.

Critter Control in San Francisco is the place you call if you want to get a skunk!

Sequoia Publishing (http://www.sequoiapublishing.com/pdt) is the place to go if you want a copy of the Pocket Ref, the little book that Jamie and Adam use to figure out how many pounds of pressure are being exerted on the window in Leaping Lawyer.

Foxy Lady Boutique and Mr. S. Leather in San Francisco are the places the guys go when they need something a little different, like the underwear used in the Cell Phone myth, or the suits used in Running in the Rain to keep their perspiration from mixing with the rainwater.

Triangle Machinery and Tool in the San Francisco area is where the guys go to get all sorts of parts that they might need to put something together quickly. As Jamie says, "This is my Tinker Toy set!".

At the end of the show, Adam and Kari also explain how to make ballistics gel. Adam says that you order the powder from Geleta USA in Sioux City, Iowa.  A 50 pound tub costs $350.  You then mix 10 parts hot water to 1 part powder with an automatic mixer. Then, because the mixture is foamy, you add cinnamon leaf oil, which makes the foam go a way, and makes it smell nice. Lastly, you add proprionic acid (using gloves, of course) which acts as a preservative.
